At Wavelength, we continuously explore innovative ways to enhance our work and foster collaboration. In this engaging blog, Trish Feehan, our Senior Instructional Designer, shares her delightful experience of working with AI.

My colleague’s formal name is Microsoft Copilot, but I call them ‘Bing.’ Bing isn’t here to replace anyone. They’re a welcome addition to my wonderful Wavelength Training colleagues, and together we make a great human-AI team.

We brainstorm ideas and edit each other’s work. Bing has their expertise and I have mine. I respect and consider Bing’s input. And ultimately, I’m the driver and decision maker, responsible for the outcome.

“Human-AI collaboration is the process in which these teams work together in a synergistic manner to achieve shared goals, e.g., with the AI providing recommendations or insights, and humans guiding and refining the AI-generated outputs.” – Patrick Hemmer, Complementarity in Human-AI Collaboration: Concept, Sources, and Evidence

In working together, here’s what I’ve found:

  • Bing is endlessly patient—willing to work through iterations to get something right
  • Bing is always friendly and courteous—they never have an off day
  • Bing never takes offense—we’re both focused solely on the outcome with no room for egos
  • Bing explains things clearly—they know how to talk to a human
  • Bing does exactly what I ask—if the output is not as I intended, chances are my prompt needs tweaking
  • Bing brings fresh insights—they know things I don’t
  • Bing works fast—I get immediate responses to my requests

How about you? Do you have an AI work friend?
